Tutoring

Individual tutoring will be required to get students ready for their  mitzvah ceremony. The mitzvah coordinator will provide families with the names of tutors who are available to provide tutoring services.  The mitzvah coordinator will assist families in making arrangements for tutoring.  All tutoring fees will be paid by JCOG directly to the tutor. 

Most students spend between nine months to a year with their individual tutor on a weekly basis.  The tutor is responsible for helping the student prepare to lead the service, chant their Torah portion and write a welcome speech and Devar Torah.  The mitzvah coordinator will stay in touch with the tutor to monitor progress and to identify any issues and challenges that may need to be addressed.
