Tutoring
Individual one on one tutoring is required throughout the mitzvah preparation year to help get students ready for their mitzvah ceremony. In most cases the Mitzvah Coordinator will provide the tutoring to each student but when necessary the Coordinator will secure the services of another tutor who will be assigned to your child.. Thirty (30) hours of tutoring fees are covered by the Mitzvah fee and will be paid by JCOGS directly to the tutor . If more than thirty (30) hours of tutoring is necessary the extra hours will be paid by the parents directly to the tutor at a rate negotiated by the parents and tutor.
Most students spend between nine months to a year with their individual tutor . The tutor is responsible for helping the student prepare to lead the service, chant their Torah portion and write a welcome speech and Devar Torah. In cases where the Mitzvah Coordinator is not the tutor, the mitzvah coordinator will stay in touch with the tutor to monitor progress and to identify any issues and challenges that may need to be addressed.
