We have a tradition at JCOGS of gathering after Shabbat services to share a communal meal. In hopes of creating an even greater sense of community and connection among our members, we’re reaching out and asking you for your thoughts about Friday night Onegs. Attached is a brief survey. It will only take a few short minutes of your time. Your input is greatly appreciated. Click here for survey.

We gathered together twice this week to remember the six million Jews who were murdered during the Holocaust and the other victims of Nazi persecution. The events included a powerful performance by Vermont Stage Company of “And Then They Came For Me” and a talk back with Rabbi David, drawing the lines between the Shoah, the October 7 attack, and modern day antisemitism.
In continuance of remembering, see these moving resources from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and visit the Vermont Holocaust Memorial website. Listen orread a scholarly, theological Yom Hashoah reflection from Hadar’s Rabbi Avi Strausberg on finding your power in powerless times.
Yom Hazikaron - Israel’s Memorial Day begins the evening of May 12. Yom Haatzmaut - Israeli Independence Day begins the evening of May 13. Join in observing these holidays during our Friday night service on May 17.
