​​​​​​​Dear JCOGS family,

As Alison, the boys, and I plan to venture out of state for the first time in a year and a half to visit family further south, I think of all of you who have told me recent stories of seeing grandchildren after many months, or even meeting grandchildren born during the pandemic for the first time, and reconnections as families and friends come to visit our brave little state for these glorious summer weeks.

As you know, JCOGS is back in our big, beautiful, and new tent.  In addition to Friday services, we have held Kibbitz Conversations over the past two weeks.  Noteworthy, attendance is high.  We had a vision of bringing our members back together, and people responded.  Eating delectable foods together, we shared around the circle what brought us to Vermont and what brings us to JCOGS—what place does JCOGS have in our lives?  Answers varied—the connections across generations, the music, community, friendships.  A visit to Dachau brought it home for one new member on how important building Jewish community is for her.

We meet again tonight at 6pm for services, in person and on Zoom. Tomorrow morning at 9:30am, we’ve got our first in person Kinderlach and Gesher program of the year after a year of Zoom!  In the afternoon, it’s simcha time at 2:30pm for Becca’s bat mitzvah —please join the family on Zoom.  Our annual meeting will be held virtually Sunday, June 20 at 10am. And please save the date and join us at the next Kibbitz Conversation on Saturday, June 26 at 5pm.

Next week, JCOGS will not hold Shabbat services.  Go explore other synagogue offerings.  While I’m away, the rabbinic emergency contact will be Rabbi Jan Salzman who can be reached at 802-356-1668. 

Let’s keep reconnecting one to the other, family, friends and community. What a gift it is.
