Over the past two weeks, our Jewish community in the U.S. has been shaken by two separate attacks—one in D.C. and one in Colorado—where Jews were targeted simply for being Jewish. As antisemitism continues to rise here and abroad, we stand together as a JCOGS community, united and unwavering: hatred and violence—no matter the source—are never acceptable.
Please join us for services tonight at 6 p.m., in person or online. Before lighting candles, we will lift up our prayers—for the souls of those lost, for the healing of those critically injured, and for the families now enduring unimaginable pain.
Then we will take a breath. We will welcome Shabbat—our ancient weekly wellspring of comfort and hope. In the face of fear, we’ll seek refuge in the sanctuary of peace this sacred day offers, as our people have done for generations.
With prayers for peace and safety, Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi David
P.S. We will not be deterred. RSVP and mark your calendars—summer at JCOGS is around the corner, bringing with it renewed energy, community, and vibrant programming.
