As members of the Jewish community, we watch with deep concern for the members of Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas, who were taken hostage this morning during Shabbat services.
We pray for the safety of those inside, for their families, and their community, and hope that this terrible event comes speedily to a peaceful end. And we send strength, resolve, and safety to those law enforcement, may they be successful in their mission.
A prayer from our liturgy: Acheinu kol beit Yisrael—For our brothers and sisters, the whole house of Israel, who are given over to trouble and captivity, may G-d have mercy and compassion for them, and bring them out of trouble to expansiveness, from darkness to light, from subjection to redemption, now speedily and soon. Amen.
We continue to remain in regular consultation with our local law enforcement to ensure the safety of JCOGS. At this time, we know of no threats to our congregation.
Yehi shalom, may there be peace in our sanctuaries and our communities,
