Dear JCOGS family, I grew up in Western Massachusetts, where the winters are long and brutal. I also grew up without adequate socks or underwear, and when the snow begins to fly, I can still feel that decades-old cold creeping into my toes, making its way up my shins.
My greatest pleasure each winter has been donating warm socks to children. Knowing that some child will have warm toes warms my own feet all winter. That is why my family supports the Warm Toes Fund at JCOGS.
Socks and underwear are rarely included in clothing donations, yet they are essential to comfort and dignity, especially in our Vermont winters. That’s where the Warm Toes Fund comes in, raising money to fill this critical gap. Because JCOGS staff is so small, we give to local schools and organizations, ensuring they have socks and underwear on hand.
Last year, the JCOGS community raised $2886 and 1000 pairs of Bombas socks so local schools and organizations could distribute socks and underwear. Almost all of that money is gone. The need is so high that there is less than $400 left to supply socks and underwear for our neighbors.
This Giving Tuesday, help JCOGS replenish our Warm Toes Fund and continue this act of tikkun olam.
To thank you for donating, my family has pledged to match each dollar the JCOGS community gives, up to the first $1000. That means every dollar donated will go twice as far to helping care for our community.
