“Shiru l’Adonai shir chadash: sing out a new song to G-d!” so sayeth our Psalmist in our Friday night liturgy. And so it is!
I am proud to announce the digital release of the first ever JCOGS produced album entitled Hashkiveinu, a collaboration between Rabbi Arielle Lekach-Rosenberg of Minneapolis, Rabbi Micah Shapiro of Philadelphia, and yours truly.
This album was recorded in the JCOGS sanctuary, with JCOGS musicians alongside us musical clergy. And now it is at your fingertips.
You can listen on all your major streaming services, including YouTube,Spotify, and Pandora. iTunes is still forthcoming (we’ll let you know). You can also listen to it on my website, or on the JCOGS website. And for those who still prefer earlier technology, order a CD delivered to your door by going here. Listen through the album at your leisure, as each unique melody shines its own renewed light.
And, if you missed the cross-country musical Shabbat service a few weeks ago, you really missed something! Over 270 devices—hundreds of real people—gathering together for a beautiful spiritual experience to celebrate shirim chadashim/new melodies. To have a taste of that night or to revisit the experience for those who joined in, you can watch the service here.
Please be in touch and let me know what you think of this new Jewish music set to old Jewish words.
Tihiyu bri’im, stay safe, be well. Shabbat Shalom,
