Socks are pretty critical in a climate like Vermont’s. Not cute socks, not stylish socks. Comfortable socks. Those socks that keep your toes warm on a winter day and dry in the rain. Those socks that feel good when you slide your feet into them. Those socks that don’t believe in blisters. Those socks that feel like a tiny slice of luxury.
But, of course, socks should not be a luxury. Every single human being deserves warm toes. Socks, along with underwear, are a basic item, and it’s an expression of love to make sure every person’s feet are cozy. You can measure a community by whether people’s toes are provided for.
And so, JCOGS has established a Warm Toes Fund to provide socks and underwear for those in our community who are in need of these essentials. A generous donor has stepped up to offer a matching grant of the first $1000 donated to this fund between now and February 14. Every dollar you donate will be doubled, which makes sense, given that people have two feet.
Funds will be distributed by referral and through schools and organizations. Socks and underwear are rarely included in clothing donations, yet they are essential to comfort and dignity. Please consider donating to the Warm Toes Fund, so we can make sure everyone’s feet are protected.
