Where Is Anne Frank is an animated magic realism film by Israeli director Ari Folman. Set in contemporary Amsterdam, the film follows Kitty, Anne Frank’s imaginary friend to whom she addressed her diary. Seeking to learn what happened to her creator, Kitty attracts worldwide attention and interacts with undocumented immigrants. Folman brings Kitty to life for the first time, telling her own story. In search of her best friend Anne Frank, Kitty becomes a witness to the Frank family’s last months in the Holocaust, and to Europe after the Second World War.
