Rabbi James Glazier was raised in Newton Highlands, Massachusetts and attended Newton Public Schools. He graduated, Cum Laude, from Boston College in 1974 with a triple major: Secondary Education, History and Spanish. In 1979 Rabbi was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-JIR in Cincinnati with a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters. In 1981, after serving two years as Assistant Rabbi at Temple Emanuel in Birmingham, Alabama, Rabbi Glazier was elected spiritual leader of Temple Sinai. In 2004 he was awarded a Doctor of Divinity from the Hebrew Union College-JIR in New York City. Rabbi Glazier has served on numerous community boards: Trustee on the Board of Medical Center Hospital of Vermont, Trustee on the Board of Burlington’s YMCA, a member of the Medical Center’s Human Research Committee, Chair of the Russian Resettlement Committee and Chair and Board Member of the Hunger Free Vermont. Though retired as rabbi of Temple Sinai after 38 years Rabbi Glazier continues to teach in the Religion Department of St. Michael’s College in Colchester.

Rabbi Glazier is married to Margaret Glazier and they are blessed with five children.
