PAST HIGH HOLIDAY EVENTS

 

YOM KIPPUR

Kol Nidrei  | Wednesday, September 15, 7 p.m.
Kol Nidrei service is the height of the year, as we pray for forgiveness and renewal.

Yom Kippur | Thursday, September 16

10:00 a.m. Morning services include music, prayer, powerful words of Torah, and a community Torah reading.
12:30 p.m. Yizkor memorial service to remember those beloved who have passed away.
1:00 p.m. Walk together on the rec path.
4:45 p.m. Yoga for Yom Kippur with lite stretching for body and soul.
5:45 p.m. Minchah afternoon services include a dramatic retelling of the Jonah and the whale story.
6:45 p.m. Ne’ilah service as the gates close, these final, intimate moments of prayer. Come hear the final shofar blast. Havdalah at 7:43pm to break-the-fast.

ROSH HASHANAH

Erev Rosh Hashanah | Monday, September 6

6:30 p.m. Bring in the new year with the JCOGS band and reconnect with community.
7:00 p.m. Services include poignant storytelling, music, and prayer.
8:00 p.m. The JCOGS Café dessert oneg is the sweetest way to start your year.

Rosh Hashanah Day 1 services | Tuesday, September 7

9:30 a.m. The JCOGS Café is open for schmoozing and noshing.
10:00 a.m. Services include music, prayer, powerful words of Torah, the shofar’s call, and a community Torah reading.
12:00 p.m. Tashlich by the river as we cast away the unwanted and seek the better parts of self.

Rosh Hashanah Day 2, morning services Wednesday, September 8

10:00 a.m. Services include music, prayer, the shofar’s call, and a community Torah reading.
12:00 p.m. Community Torah learning experience and potluck lunch. Come explore deep Torah from the Shalom Hartman Institute, as we launch a year of rich study and exploration. Bring a vegetarian dish to share.

Rosh Hashanah Day 2, afternoon services Wednesday, September 8

4:00 p.m. Family learning experience and afternoon minchah service. Parents and kids of all ages learn together about the why, what, and how of Rosh Hashanah. 
5:30 p.m. Celebratory Rosh Hashanah dinner provided.

Shabbat Shuvah service | Friday, September 10, 6 p.m.
Shabbat Shuvah service during these Yamim Noraim, Days of Awe.

Young families celebrate the High Holy Days | Saturday, September 11, 9:30 a.m.
Join Rabbi David, Beth, and special friends for the first Kinderlach & Gesher of the year. Together we’ll sing, dance, & taste something sweet.

SUKKOT

Sukkot Resources

Sukkah-raising!  | Sunday, September 19, 3-5 p.m.
All hands requested. Afterwards, stay and celebrate with nosh provided.

Pizza in the Hut  | Monday, September 20, 5-7 p.m.
Come launch sukkot at Rabbi David and Alison’s home sukkah. Please bring a vegetarian side dish to share. RSVP for location.

Musical Sukkot Shabbat services  | Friday, September 24, 6 p.m.

Community Shabbat Torah service  | Saturday, September 25, 10 a.m.
This Sukkot Shabbat service will launch us into a new monthly community Shabbat morning practice. Kiddush lunch provided in the sukkah.

Sukkot on the Farm Festival @ Living Tree Alliance | Saturday evening, September 25-Sunday morning, September 26
Co-sponsored by JCOGS, this eighth annual earth-based celebration of the harvest brings people together in fall’s majestic beauty with music, conversation, and story. Activities for all ages.

Sukkot Yizkor memorial service ONLINE ONLY | Tuesday, September 28, 5:30 p.m.
On this eighth day of Sukkot, we will gather virtually for a Yizkor memorial service in memory of those beloved who have passed.

Shake your Tuchus Simchat Torah dance party | Wednesday, September 29, 5-6 p.m.
Knock the holidays out of the park with a Rock n’ Roll Ma’ariv Minyan and Torah reading followed by a DJ dance party with the Torah like you’ve never experienced before. All ages, all dancing abilities, all kinds of fun!
