High Holidays Schedule 2019

We invite you to share the spirit and wisdom of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  Join us for prayer, music, and reflection.

Rosh Hashanah

Sunday, Sept. 29: 7:30 p.m.,Erev Rosh Hashanah

JCOGS members and the greater community are invited for this evening of story, prayer, and sweetness.  Dessert oneg to follow service.  Bring your friends.  


Monday, Sep. 30: Rosh Hashanah, Day 1

9:30 a.m., service begins
10:00 a.m., family Holy Day experience begins
Families with children 7 and younger gather for song, prayer, and activities.
11 a.m., children 8 and up meet on the lower level for an amazing T’shuvah Challenge.                                                          12:45 p.m., Tashlich and vegetarian potluck lunch

Tuesday, Oct. 1: Rosh Hashanah, Day 2

9:30 a.m., service. An intimate day of prayer and music in which we come more deeply into the season.

Shabbat Shuvah

Friday, Oct. 4: 6 p.m., Shabbat Shuvah and Homegrown Shabbat

Come for added reflection and contemplation during these Yamim Noraim, Days of Awe. Stay for the vegetarian potluck.
 

Yom Kippur

Tuesday, Oct. 8: 7 p.m. Kol Nidrei

The height of the year: the ritual of forgiveness that  brings us greater wholeness.

Wednesday, Oct. 9: Yom Kippur

9:30 a.m., Yom Kippur service
Yizkor memorial service at approximately 11:30 a.m.
10 a.m., family Holy Day experience begins
Families with children 7 and younger gather for song, prayer, and activities.
11 a.m., children 8 and up meet on the lower level for a thoughtful T’shuvah Challenge.
3:15 p.m., silent Musaf and meditation
3:45 p.m., yoga for Yom Kippur
Prepare yourself for Ne’ilah. Please bring a yoga mat if you own one.
4:45 p.m., Mincha afternoon service
A spiritual journey, as we prepare for the gates to close.
5:45 p.m., Ne’ilah closing service

Sukkot and Simchat Torah

Sunday, Oct. 13: 3-5:30 p.m., Sukkah-raising!

All hands needed. Afterwards, stay and celebrate with pizza.
Sukkat Shalom: Bring a picnic to our synagogue sukkah anytime during the week.

Monday, Oct . 14: 5-7 p.m.,Pizza in the Hut 

Rabbi David and Alison's home.  Please bring a vegetarian side dish to share.  RSVP here.


Friday, Oct. 18: 6 p.m., Musical Sukkot Shabbat services with sermon by Father Rick Swanson + catered oneg in the sukkah

Enjoy services with our special guest, followed by a catered oneg in the hut.  Please RSVP here.

Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 19-20: Sukkot on the Farm at Living Tree Alliance
